Launched in June 2024, SBOSS Montgomery was created to be a centralized resource hub for entrepreneurs across Montgomery County. In December 2024, the organization opened its physical office in the Historic Kress Building on Dexter Avenue, providing a welcoming space for small business owners to connect, learn, and grow.
With a dedicated team of seven professionals—most of whom are entrepreneurs themselves—SBOSS provides hands-on, personalized support that goes beyond generic advice. The organization offers one-on-one coaching, technical training and workshops, digital and technology support, financial education, accelerator programs, and access to essential business development resources. Their tech-enabled platform, the Dream Makers Hub, allows entrepreneurs to access training and resources anytime, while SBOSS’s team continues to engage directly with the community, meeting clients where they are and fostering meaningful connections.
SBOSS Montgomery stands out by combining a personalized, relationship-driven approach with cutting-edge tools and community advocacy. In just its first year, the organization has served over 340 clients, supported 101 businesses and jobs, and hosted 88 events reaching more than 3,700 participants. Nearly 2,800 hours of personalized counseling and technical assistance have helped entrepreneurs gain clarity, confidence, and actionable guidance. Flagship events like SHE-EO, Business, Beards, & Bourbon, and monthly small business mixers have solidified SBOSS as a trusted connector between small businesses, local government, and community resources.
Looking ahead, SBOSS is developing industry-specific programs for restaurant and food truck owners, federal contracting, and child care business operations. They are also expanding cohort-based support, launching a Subject Matter Expert program, and growing the reach of the Dream Makers Hub both virtually and in-person.
