Founded in 1920 and just minutes from historic downtown Montgomery, The Montgomery Zoo has been a cherished destination for families across Alabama. With a range of exotic animals, engaging rides, and delightful gift shops, the zoo promises fun and excitement for visitors of all ages, year-round.

The zoo’s efforts have global significance, having successfully bred eight Pygmy Hippo calves since 2016, bolstering endangered species breeding programs worldwide.

Looking ahead, The Montgomery Zoo is set to break ground in January 2025 on a new front-end complex for admissions and a gift shop.
