The Face of United Way

Since its founding in 1923, the River Region United Way has been a cornerstone in addressing community needs through strategic partnerships. With a dedicated team of seven, the organization focuses on enhancing health, education, and financial stability within the River Region.

The River Region United Way supports 34 Community Agency Partners that deliver direct services, streamlining the process for businesses and donors to contribute to various causes in a single step. Recognizing the crucial role of volunteers, the organization relies on hundreds of committed individuals to tackle significant local issues.

Their impactful work recently earned them a grant from the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Development, enabling them to launch the Dolly Parton Imagination Library pilot program, now part of the governor’s initiative. This program has enrolled over 10,000 children across Montgomery, Autauga, Elmore, Lowndes, and Macon counties.

Looking ahead, the River Region United Way will soon establish a new building in downtown Montgomery. This facility will not only bring them closer to those they serve and their partner agencies but will also provide space for smaller nonprofits, training opportunities, and additional services like a School Uniform Closet.

The River Region United Way’s success is deeply rooted in the support and generosity of the community. Their commitment to intentional collaboration and partnerships ensures they remain a leader in meeting the evolving needs of the River Region.
