The Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama, founded on February 24, 1997, is dedicated to providing supportive services, educational resources, and assistance to cancer patients throughout Central Alabama. As one of the few organizations solely focused on assisting cancer patients in need, the Foundation’s mission is both unique and crucial. 

Serving 32 counties in Central Alabama, the Foundation relies entirely on community support, funded through grants, donations, and fundraisers. Over the past decade, their medication grants have increased by almost $40 million. Despite this growth, they are actively seeking additional fundraisers to help offset the rising costs associated with the growing number of cancer patients in need of assistance. 

The Cancer Wellness Foundation is committed to finding ways to support its patients, whether through providing public or private transportation or securing prescription medications at low or no cost. This dedication to patient care is one of the reasons they were named the MGM Impact Maker in the non-profit category by the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. 

The mission of The Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama is to empower those affected by cancer by enhancing their quality of life. Recognizing that some financial needs of cancer patients are not met by insurance companies or government-funded medical programs, the Foundation offers services to all cancer patients, both insured and uninsured. 

The Foundation’s social workers and patient advocates assist patients in navigating the complexities of finding co-pay and prescription assistance programs, especially for those enrolling in the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan. Prospective clients must meet with a Foundation social worker to determine eligibility for the Foundation’s social services program.
